We at Women’s Reproductive Services, (WRS), located in Englewood, NJ specialize in therapeutic terminations of pregnancy to 24 weeks of gestation.

The decision to terminate a much wanted pregnancy can be both emotionally devastating and logistically challenging. Because so few physicians perform second trimester terminations, the options are limited and most couples have no idea where to turn. At WRS, we have been helping families in this situation for over 30 years. Our staff, having combined experience of over 100 years, is here to address both your medical as well as your emotional needs.

Our surgicenter provides private, one-to-one medical care along with compassion and support for every woman we treat. We have the experience and flexibility to modify our approach to bring the appropriate specialized care to your individual family’s needs.

We are a group of board certified gynecologists with decades of experience in providing women’s health care and our expertise is unparalleled. There will be 3 ob-gyn physicians present during the course of your visit, along with our full time M.D. anesthesiologist, and staff of ACLS certified registered nurses. Our multi- lingual counseling staff gives each patient the privacy and care needed to help families cope with an unexpected and highly stressful situation.

Our facility is well- equipped with the latest diagnostic and intraoperative equipment. All medical testing is performed on site, usually requiring only one visit. We are committed to offering quality care to women with the utmost regard for privacy, dignity and confidentiality in a private, safe and sensitive environment. We pay great attention to your need for privacy and in conjunction with your referring physician, we will provide you with the superior care specific to your individual needs.

Prior to your appointment day, have nothing to eat or drink from midnight the night before. Please have someone drive you to your appointment and take you home.

Please provide us with your insurance information prior to your visit, in order to avoid unnecessary waiting time.

Upon arrival, a member of our team of board certified obstetrician-gynecologists will evaluate you and discuss your upcoming care.

A staff counselor will meet with you and your partner to discuss your concerns and answer any further questions you may have. This private time with your counselor will also allow your partner and family to share their feelings in a comforting and private setting.

A preoperative evaluation by a staff ob-gyn physician will determine whether your procedure will be completed in one day or two. The insertion of laminaria, a plant substance, may be necessary to gently dilate your cervix over several hours or overnight. After adequate dilation has occurred, our staff anesthesiologist will administer anesthesia and your procedure will be done. Our physician will remove the cervical dilators and empty the contents of the uterus surgically. In the event that hospital care is required, this will be provided by our WRS physicians in Englewood Hospital and Medical Center where they have admitting privileges. Following your recovery period, you will be discharged with written postoperative instructions and a 24 hour a day contact number to reach us should the need arise. An appointment for a follow-up visit with your physician is recommended or if you don’t have a physician, you may also return to us.

Our counseling staff can provide you and your family with referrals for postoperative grief counseling which may be helpful. If your physician requests genetic studies, we will arrange that for you as well. We are always available to assist you even after your visit is over.
